Discover Alifood fine selection of original Montasio DOP Italian cheese. Montasio DOP is a semi-hard cows’ milk cheese originating from the Friuli Venezia Giulia and Veneto regions in northern Italy. It is a traditional fresh Italian cheese which process dates back to the 13th century produced for the first time by the monks of Abbey of Moggio. At Alifood we think that it’s important preserve the original producing method to offer the authentic taste and for this we select only manufacturers who follow aged-old traditional methods. Montasio DOP has the characteristic “eyes” spread throughout the cheese and revels a harmonious mild flavor heightened by the pleasant aroma when young; otherwise it is more pungent when aged.
